Movie Review - Blood Ties

Blood Ties (还魂)

Movie Synopsis

On the 7th night of his death, Shun's spirit returns to possess his little sister Qing to exact revenge on those who brutally murdered him and his beloved wife. This is a thriller set in a supernatural context, with characters caught in a web of love, betrayal, and revenge. This tale of vengeance starts with Qing, already possessed, trying to enlist the help of his ex-colleague to seek his revenge. The whole story unfolds in the course of one night, as we see how a little girl possessed by a man, hunts down his killers one by one.

Movie Review

Overall I felt that the movie was great! I like the plot as well as how the movie sequence is arranged. At first I really cannot tell what is going on. But the movie offers a couple of good twists here and there, revealing what actually happened till the very end. So it's suspense and surprises all the way till the end of movie. Also the movie is filmed in a very "Hong Kong movie" fashion, which takes local production to greater heights. Sound effects are nicely done unlike most horror flicks which provides unnecessary and too much "scare" effects, this movie's well balanced

What I didnt like about the movie is the violence. I expected more graphical violence! Lol! Ok , I'm not encouraging violence or what, but having a rating of M18, I expected a little more. But for the faint heart and the not-so-gore supporters, this movie is just nice. It gives the faint idea of what's going on, showing the end phase with not so much graphical effects.

I think this is a movie worth watching! Let's all support local production!

Bonus: The theme songs are really nice too!

Overall rating - 4 / 5

After that we hung around. Saw a few of the casts of the film. One of them is the Caucasian guy as tourist in the movie. He is Jeane's friend. What a small world. The other cast we met is one of the lead actor Vincent. He is very warm and very friendly!

Photobucket

Oh ya, we met Patricia Mok too! She is very beautiful, unlike her image on-screen. Lol. And she is also very warm and sociable. No airs at all. We had fun chatting around.

We saw Chong sitting one corner alone. He says he wants to sleep already. Forever so funny. (",)

Soon after we headed into the cinema to wait for the movie screening. Before the movie started, the director, and main leads came in to say a few words together with the emcee cum cast UFM 1003 DJ Jian Wen 大哥! He acted pretty well in the movie. Lol!

Before movie started, we took a few shots in the cinema. We took a few funny poses. Lol!

After movie we went to Geylang's famous dim sum restuarant for dinner cum supper. Very nice food there! So full now. Lol.

Headed home after that. Thanks laoshi for the invite! Thanks God sis for the dinner!
